Today is my last full day in the US. Tomorrow we will be heading up to that most delightful of places, Logan airport in Boston, to endure hours of waiting before heading out over the Atlantic at about 8:30pm.

It's been an interesting last few days:

We've picked up a huge pile of second-hand books, about 50 in all. At a dollar a book, that's pretty bloody good. I love the Book Barn.

Jen has a new exercise programme as recommended by the physio she was referred to by the specialist who initally diagnosed her EDS.

The American media continues to fascinate, in a horrifying sort of way. The nightmare of what the people of Lebanon are going through is starting to leak through even onto Fox News.

I have hundreds of photos, including one of an osprey in flight and another of a schooner under full sail looking all ghostly in the heat haze.

After years of being assured there are no sharks anywhere near here, I saw a sign on a bait shop that read "Shark chum - $20 a barrel". When confronted about this, Jen and her family said "It's only for mako sharks, and they're out in Block Island Sound. They don't come into this bay." I'm reasonably certain sharks don't have maps and can't read signs, however. And makos are big enough to eat people. I read it in a Willard Price "Adventure!" book, I'm sure.

So, think of us, arriving at Heathrow in the early hours of Saturday morning jetlagged to all hell and gone.
