All the rain in the world
Mar. 5th, 2007 07:06 amDrove down to Malvern on Friday night; my that was fun. A few really hairy moments on the motorway in the torrential rain, but I got there eventually.
I crashed over with
orangutank and Jo, and made the acquaintance of their new kittens, Bumble and Nutme... no, Nula and Halo. They are adorable, affectionate and sweet little things who flip out like ninja, chase cursors on computer monitors and are prepared to use any part of your body as a launching pad/landing point in their quest to play with cat toys (where "cat toys" = "everything").
So, usual socialising, usual trip into Worcester, usual stuff.
Sunday I went to a field shoot just outside Malvern. It was raining when I got there. It was raining as I put my kit together. It was raining all bloody day. I fell over in the mud twice, giving my bow a good dunking on one occasion. The score cards were next to useless, despite our brollies, and at the end of the day my fingers were wrinkled and aching.
However, as I nailed the kill on the last target I jumped in the air and gave a whoop, much to the amusement of my target companions. The reason? I had just gone round a field course without recording a zero for any target. In fact, I'd hit nearly all of them with my first arrow.
After begging further hospitality, a shower and some pizza, I headed for home, tired but happy. Now I just hope I get through today without falling asleep at my desk.
