Unexpected meals and movies
Aug. 12th, 2007 07:46 pmThis weekend I had shopping and things to do, and also had a half-formed plan to meet up with Jane on her jaunt up to Wolverhampton.
As usual, things changed. I drove down to Worcester for the day to do some shopping and meet
aberim and Paula (sans LJ) while Chris (her other half) and Nigel wrote up a fun piratical RPG for Osh's stag weekend. Osh then suggested I go out with the Malvern Mob and Jane's parents for a Chinese...
So I ended up crashing at
orangutank's and Jo's with a cat for company. Very nice.
Next day, I was cajoled into seeing the Transformers' movie in Worcester with various people. My verdict (without spoilers) is that it didn't actually suck as much as I thought it would. Most of the actors did a good (or at least good enough) job and the script only occasionally sucked donkey balls. It dragged a bit in places too and felt somewhat disjointed. Overall, I would have been quite happy to catch it at home some time when there was nothing on TV, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't awful.
orangutank did not share my verdict. His quote: "I feel like I've been anally violated by a rhinoceros draped in an American flag".
Afterwards I decided I needed coffee to fuel my trip home. I walked up Friar Street in Worcester to the Cafe Rouge, a very French and very good little restaurant, for a strong coffee and a croissant with jam. I plan on stopping there again some time and sampling the hot food.
And now, home. Tired and happy.
