The week has just zipped by
Sep. 12th, 2008 01:44 pmOn tuesday night, we had the pleasure of the company of
smallstoat,
breezle,
fundessie and little Duncan. It was a fun evening and great to have a chance to return their kindness and hospitality in times past. Jenny was a bit nervous, but all turned out well. It looked like everyone had fun, anyway. I hope so :-)
Bria roped Emma into the “Let’s embarrass JK” game, leading to various comments about my height and steps. There were more embarrassing things, but I can’t mention them because they’re too embarrassing.
Wednesday was a lazy evening, and we finished watching the last episode in the House of Cards Trilogy. Utterly brilliant. I only spotted where they were going about 15 minutes from the end. Ian Richardson was perfect for the role; he invites the viewer’s complicity with his actions. His cold, magnetic charisma was so strong I found I was rooting for him, despite the fact the character of FU is completely morally abhorrent.
( Twanging, cut for the disinterested )
No shooting now until next Tuesday, but I’ve had some brilliant news. I was about to broach the subject of setting up a target somewhere with my landlord when he said "I hear you do archery. Do you want to set up a target?" He’s offered the use of the field behind the house, but only until they start preparing it for next year, so I’m going to chat with him about something shorter but more permanent. Even better, to keep costs down he’s offered me some hay bales for free! They aren’t good enough to stop an arrow, but I can build them up around a cheap, small foam target and add some carpet for a final backstop.
So soon, come wind, rain or shine, I will be able to shoot. Hurrah :-)
