As most of you know, I've opted not to go the Empire as a player just yet. I might give it a go next year, but this year I'm devoting time to archery.
So, to distract myself from wishing I was running around a field at the birth of a system and world that seems designed to push all my buttons, I planned a long weekend of fun.
First of all, I invited Leah to pop up and visit me. I love having a house guest, especially one who is such good company. It's nice to be able to relax in company without necessarily talking.
But my long weekend actually began on Thursday night when I had a really lovely date with one of my new friends. She's a Finnish lady who speaks perfect English with a rather beguiling accent. We had a really lovely time and have been in touch since (although she had a nasty cold over the Easter weekend). I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes... although it won't go anywhere quickly as she's about to go travelling for two months. No matter - I don't have a good record when it comes to jumping into relationships feet first ;-)
Other weekend highlights included a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum, my first open mic night (with lots of kind support), a long Sunday pub lunch, a lazy Monday spent mostly on the sofa, and catching up with Fliss and Alex (friends I stayed with when I moved down here).
Archerywise, I am currently without a set of limbs I can easily shoot. I can draw my 44lbs set up, but cannot control it. I need some limbs to get me to around 40lbs. Border loaned me a set, but there was a slight problem with them so I sent them back up two weeks ago. Still no replacement set. Argh. I might have to just buy a cheap and nasty set to shoot in the meantime.
