Oh, that elephant
May. 8th, 2006 08:24 amWe spent the weekend dahn sarf, staying over at Ivan and
indelible_ink's new house, which is lovely and palatial.
On Saturday we visited Jen's cousin Adrian and his fiance Alicia in London. It went something like this:
1. Get train and tube to Picaddilly Circus, walk to Starbucks in Leicester Square, get coffee.
2. Meet relatives and debate where to get food.
3. Eat lovely food at Wagamama's.
4. Walk down to Trafalgar Square, where a forty-ton steampunk time travelling elephant was taking in the sights.
Then, the following happened:
Trunk Operator 1 - Right, time for a blast again. Who shall we target?
T.O. 2 - Well, see that bloke there, in a leather jacket? At least a head taller than everyone around him?
T.O. 1 - Yeah.
T.O. 2 - Centre the blast on him.
T.O. 1 - Right-o. *CLICK*
5. Drenched from head to knee, go to Italian place around the corner for dessert.
The rest of the weekend was enjoyable and fun, but everything sort of pales into significance next to that experience. I've never been a great admirer of artistic "installations", but this elephant was an act of purest genius.
