Well, that went rather better than I expected.

For an hour or so I was questioned and talked to by someone from HR and the manager about the nature of the company, the role and my experience. None of the feared bollocks questions materialised, much to my relief. Also, while the nature of the product/service the company provides doesn't enthuse me, it seems there's plenty of scope for training up as a more techie technical author.

And then the big surprise. They brought in the only other tech author to ask me a few more questions and run me through some writing tests, and b*gger me if it wasn't Big John, a mate of mine from my days in Bangor. No surprise to him, as he'd seen my CV and knew to expect me. I did a classic double take, which seemed to amuse everyone else.

Anyway, I fair zipped through the rest of the tests and questions, and left with a grin on my face. I'm fairly confident about this one - I didn't mess up any parts of the interview, like I did with the Cheltenham lot, and so I'm reasonably sure that unless the only other candidate was really very good I might be getting an offer.

However, the informal interview tomorrow morning is what I'm really interested in, it being for a company that specialises in tech writing. Watch this space.
