Holiday round up
Jan. 3rd, 2007 09:00 pmWell, here I am back in Stafford and back to work after my little Christmas/New Year break, wondering how it all went by so quickly.
My visit to Oxfordshire to the family home was fantastic, the only off note being the absence of my brother Paul, who was living it up in Australia, drinking beers in the swimming pool of some old family friends. Still, we talked for a while on the phone, which was good. At least once a day I was brought to tears because I was laughing so hard, and on several occasions this was because of the jokes made at my grandmother's expense. Poor old bird. Still, she likes the attention. Regardless, the single funniest moment was my tipsy mother holding a carrot in one hand, a knife in the other, making "peeling" movements with the knife while saying to my Dad "I can't find the ... thing you do this with!"
I have brought back video evidence of the love one of the family cats, Raffles, has for being treated in a way that any other cat would classify as unusual cruelty. Here's the YouTube link:

And here's a picture of the new dog, Toby. Sweet little thing. It's amazing what genetic engineers can do with rats these days:
The slightly dorky voice is mine; the cat manipulator is my brother Thomas. Raffles does normally come trotting back for more. Honest. Pah. Never work with children or animals.
