I haven't been sleeping well, which is no surprise. I was up at six and would have wandered up to the field to shoot, only it's tipping it down.

However, the funny thing is that this weekend is the Border Bowfest - a fun field, clout and moving target competition held in the woods on the Mellerstain Estate [1] in Scotland and hosted by my friends who run Border Archery. This is the first Bowfest I've missed, rain or shine. There's nothing short of dangerous weather conditions that would stop me going around that course were I there.

My real love in archery is obviously still for the traditional, unsighted side; but not having stereoscopic vision is a massive disadvantage for judging distance. I would only ever be a competent barebow shooter so if I want to shoot at the top level it's got to be in an arena where I know how far away the target is.

Ho hum. Time for another cuppa, a shower and then some tidying before we head off to be sociable for the weekend. I'll be raising a glass to Mike's memory tonight.
